Stanford University Artificial Intelligence Laboratory telah mengembangkan tool auto-trace  yang secara dramatis lebih akurat dibandingkan tool lain baik dalam Adobe Illustrator atau CorelDraw. Proses konversi seperti itu disebut tracing atau vektorisasi dan merupakan sesuatu yang secara historis dilakukan kebanyakan oleh tangan. Sebuah tool otomatis sebagaimana layanan web Magic Vector yang telah ada, dapat membuat tugas ini dirasa membosankan ini, menjadi begitu cepat dan tanpa rasa lelah.

Banyak program yang dapat digunakan untuk membuat vector wajah, ada corel, photoshop , gimp bahkan software khusus membuat vector. Kali ini saya akan memberikan tips sederhana tentunya dengan hasil yang cukup sederhana untuk pemula yang hanya menguasai dasar sedasar-dasarnya program-program di atas. Kali ini saya akan menggunakan software Vector Magic. Sebuah program khusus tracing yang bisa merubah gambar biasa (raster image, misal : bmp, jpg, gif, png ) menjadi gambar vektor (misal : emf, ai, pdf, cdr, svg), sehingga bisa diperbesar sebesar-besarnya tanpa ada bagian yang besah atau blured, beda dengan image raster.

Dengan Vector Mgic, kita cukup membuka file atau folder yang ada gambar yang kita inginkan, pilih lalu load image tersebut kedalam program vector magic. Disini saya hanya menggunakan cara instant yaitu tekan fully automatic mode yang memang disediakan buat pemula. secara otomatis software itu akan membuat gambar bitmap menjadi vector, tentunya dengan hasil yang paling sederhana namun cukup bagus. Hasil bisa disimpan kedalam emf, pdf, ai dan lainnya, serta bisa diedit agar tampilannya lebih sip.
